• Syllabus Balance: The test paper weights 70% of its content on Law subjects and 30% on assessing language proficiency in Hindi and English.
• The Mandatory 5th Option Rule: To prevent optical manipulation and malpractice, RPSC features five options (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) on the OMR sheet. Shading a circle is mandatory for every single question. If you wish to leave a question unattempted, you must shade option ‘5’. Failure to shade any of the five choices will result in a deduction of 1/3 marks for that question. Candidates who leave more than 10% of the total questions completely blank (unshaded) will be automatically disqualified from the recruitment process. An extra 10 minutes is given at the end of the exam to complete this verification.

Main Examination (Written Descriptive)

Candidates equal to 15 times the total number of advertised vacancies per category will be shortlisted from the Preliminary exam to sit for the Mains. The descriptive phase consists of two papers:

• Paper-I: Law (300 Marks / 3 Hours): Designed to test practical and analytical applications in criminal law and procedure, including drafting and framing charges in criminal cases.
• Paper-II: Language (100 Marks / 2 Hours): Divided equally into General Hindi (50 Marks) and General English (50 Marks) based on a Senior Secondary educational standard.
• Qualifying Margin: Candidates must score a minimum of 40% in each individual paper to be considered for final selection, with a relaxed margin of 35% given to SC and ST candidates.

• Scanned Signature: Drawn inside a rectangular box of 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm on a plain white paper using a black or deep blue ink pen. Saved in JPEG format with a file size between 20 KB and 50 KB.
• Left Thumb Impression: A clear, unsmudged scan of your left thumb print uploaded onto the designated slot on the OTR dashboard (Right thumb impression is permissible only if the left thumb is missing).
