  • One-Time Registration (OTR) Fee: Candidates must register in the TNPSC OTR portal by paying a standard fee of Rs. 150/-. This registration is valid for five years from the date of registration.
  • Examination Fee: An examination fee of Rs. 100/- must be paid during the application process. For every additional subject paper opted, an extra Rs. 100/- must be paid.
  • Fee Concession: * Scheduled Castes (SC), SC(A), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disability, and Destitute Widows are fully exempted from the examination fee.
  • Backward Classes (BC, BCM, MBC/DC) are eligible for Three Free Chances.
  • Ex-Servicemen are eligible for Two Free Chances.

  • Minimum Age : All candidates must have completed at least 21 years of age. (Post Wise)
  • Maximum Age for “Others” (Unreserved/General Candidates) : For most Engineering and Scientific posts, the maximum age limit is restricted to 32 years or 34 years. For certain posts like Junior Photographer, the maximum limit is 34 years. (Post Wise)
  • Maximum Age for Reserved Categories (SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, and BCMs): For the vast majority of the posts (including Assistant Engineer, Agriculture Officer, Drug Inspector, etc.), there is No Maximum Age Limit, meaning candidates from reserved categories can apply up to their retirement age of 60 years. TNPSC Combined Technical Services: Exam Pattern

The Combined Technical Services Examination (Non-Interview Posts) is conducted purely as a single-stage Written Examination. It consists of two major papers:

  • Part A: Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard) – 100 Questions for 150 Marks. This part is a mandatory qualifying test, and candidates must secure at least 40% (60 marks) for their subsequent papers to be evaluated.
  • Part B: General Studies (Degree Standard) – 75 Questions.
  • Part C: Aptitude and Mental Ability (SSLC Standard) – 25 Questions.
  • Note: Part B and Part C together carry 150 Marks. The total duration for Paper I is 3 Hours.
  • This paper focuses on the core technical subject (e.g., Civil Engineering, Agriculture, Geology, Computer Science, etc.) chosen by the candidate.
  • It consists of 200 Questions carrying 300 Marks.
  • The duration is 3 Hours and it will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • Final Selection: The final ranking and merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Part B and Part C of Paper-I, combined with the marks from Paper-II (Total out of 450 Marks). Part A marks are solely for qualifying purposes and will not be added to the final ranking.

TNPSC Combined Technical Services: Documents Required to Apply Online

Many candidates face rejection during the online application process due to incorrect or missing documents. To successfully complete your OTR and the online application for the TNPSC Technical Services Exam, ensure you have scanned copies of the following documents ready in the exact specified formats:

  • Recent Passport Size Photograph (Strict Rule): The photograph must be in color, taken against a white background, and strictly taken on or after the date of notification (20.05.2026). Crucially, the candidate’s name and the date of photography must be printed clearly at the bottom of the photograph. The file size should be between 20 KB and 50 KB (saved as “Photograph.jpg”).
  • Scanned Signature: A clear signature using a blue or black ink pen inside a box of 6.0 x 2.0 cm on white paper. The file size must be between 10 KB and 20 KB (saved as “Signature.jpg”).
  • Educational Certificates: You must upload your SSLC (10th) mark sheet, HSC (12th) mark sheet, and your Diploma, Degree, or PG Degree consolidated mark sheets or Provisional Certificates.
  • Aadhaar Card: Linking your Aadhaar number with the One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for authentication purposes.
  • Community Certificate: Candidates claiming reservation must upload their valid community certificate issued by the competent authority in Tamil Nadu (e.g., Tahsildar, RDO, or Sub-Collector). The certificate must include the candidate’s father’s or mother’s name.
  • PSTM Certificate (If Applicable): If you are claiming the ‘Person Studied in Tamil Medium’ (PSTM) reservation, you must upload the official PSTM certificates reflecting your studies from 1st Standard up to the prescribed educational qualification.
  • Eye Fitness Certificate (If Applicable): Candidates applying for certain sensitive posts like Junior Scientific Officer, Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Drug Inspector, and Agriculture Officer must upload an Eye Fitness Certificate obtained from an Ophthalmologist in a Government Hospital in the prescribed format.
